Hunting in Namibia
Trophy Hunting is an activity which many adventurous tourists do when on a tour to Namibia. The Klawerberg Game Ranch is one of the largest game ranches spread over 20000 acres of land. It is a privately owned area and offers an abundance of African species. Here you get the Zebra, Kudu, Eland, Wildebeest and many others. The park is operated by Jan Visser who helps hunters to accommodate their needs when in the park. The Klawerberg Game Ranch is at a short distance from the International airport and it is a part of the 450000 acre Dordabis Conservancy.
The Namibia Professional Hunting Association awards Gold, Silver and Bronze medals for mature animals. It would be interesting for you to know that the best hunting season is from the months of February to November. The rifle used for hunting need to be 30 caliber or larger. 80 rounds of ammunition are allowed when one enters Namibia. Semi automatic rifles are not allowed for hunting and it is suggested that hunters use soft-nose ammunition while on their hunting trip.
It generally takes 8-10 months to prepare the trophy after hunting. Experienced taxidermists clean, dry, bleach and chemically treat the trophy before it is finally shipped out to their destinations. Hunting is Africa is a costly affair and for many people it is a once in a lifetime opportunity. So, it is important that your trophy stays in good shape for years to come.
